International Venue of the Year 2001
16 Feb 2015
It was back in February 2002 when Manchester Evening News Arena (as we were known back then) was officially presented with the award for Pollstar's 2001 International Venue of the Year at a star studded ceremony in Los Angeles.
We were thrilled to win this prestigious award, overcoming stiff competition from fellow nominees in Sydney, Frankfurt, Talinn, Dublin, Paris and Amsterdam.
Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees, who was there to present one of the other awards, said he couldn't wait to play at the Arena next month with the band.
Manchester Arena has been nominated for the award a record breaking eleven times and was named "Busiest Venue of the Year" in 2007.
