ARENACROSS GETS FIRED UP FOR MANCHESTER

The 2017 Arenacross Tour returns to Manchester Arena this Saturday for a flat-out night of fast and furious family entertainment.

From the very off, the packed evening programme will be adrenaline-charged with back-to-back no-holds-barred racing interspersed with radical and extreme Freestyle MX. The giants of the FMX world will showcase their ballistic breath-taking skills, pushing both man and machine through a set of seemingly impossible 40’ high crazy antics.

Earlier this year, when the AX Tour hit the city, an enthusiastic crowd flocked to Manchester Arena. Once there, they were treated to a full-on three hours of razzmatazz and race action. The atmospheric show opening, accompanied by reverberating sound effects, strobe lighting and pyrotechnics set the scene and commentator Christian Stevenson, aka DJ BBQ, whipped the cheering fans into a fervour ready for the evening ahead.

Of local interest, ten-year-old Arai Elcock from Rossendale is moving up in the Arenacross racing ranks, progressing from the 65cc category to SuperMinis. Arai (named after the world-famous crash helmet brand), finished fifth overall in 2016 even though he missed one round. So, with track knowledge already under his belt, and a bigger bike to suit his riding style and height, he could well be the bookies fave for 2017.

Over on the high side, one of the UK’s top Freestyle Motocross athletes Nez Parker hails from Preston. He joined the AX crew for the first time last year and has spent the summer months honing his electrifying high-air tricks which always keep the audience hollering for more. The twenty-seven-year-old Lancastrian has perfected the back-flip and now joins an elite club of ‘mavericks’ who literally go upside down!

Anyone looking for an excuse to extend the New Year celebrations, need look no further.
